Thesis - Not For Nothing

My collection focuses on the mundane and seeing it as something beautiful, a moment in time. I see the remnants and echoes of what was and the story that they tell. We should be mindful of the resources that are already here and strive for transformation. Creativity and imagination are acts of resistance. I combine a vintage look with everyday items and embellishments.

My collection is inspired by Buffalo NY factories and my love for vintage imagery, combined with a sense of childlike wonder and whimsy. 
Below is my final garments which include: 
the shadow play jumpsuit - Featuring a hidden placket, beaded name tag and bow, and hand embroidered and painted shadow puppet 18th century pocket bag belt. 
The Peeling Paint Dress - Featuring a hand made textile of two layered and distressed cottons. 
The Flounder Coat - A large rectangular cut Wool cashmere coat featuring detachable 18th century pocket bag, ruffle sleeves, butt pockets and hang tab.
